Historical newspaper advertisements are a real treat, especially when they feature your ancestors. Here is one such example from Christmastime 1924 in Norfolk, Virginia, as printed in the Norfolk Journal and Guide.
The Strand Cafe was owned and operated by my great-grandaunt, Tilithia Brewington King Godbold Dabney (1878-1965).

For context, the price of this Christmas meal in 1924 was $0.75. According to the Westegg Inflation Calculator, that is the equivalent of $13.23 in 2022 U.S. dollars.
There is a living memory of the reminiscences of great times at The Strand Cafe. Cousin L.H. remembers her paternal grandmother sharing about how she enjoyed visiting her Aldridge/Brewington cousins at their Norfolk restaurant.

A century later, the theme of family, sharing, good food and conversation remains.
From my family to yours,
Merry Christmas!
