Hello everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, today we will be discussing the topic of Black migrant farm workers and family history. My guest today is Ann Heath-Mims, originally from Belle Glade, Florida, and she will graciously share about her own family’s experiences.
Several years ago, I was introduced to a CBS documentary called, Harvest of Shame. It was a hard-hitting piece, showing the extreme difficulties faced by hard-working people who were barely making ends meet.
I was intrigued to know about Ann’s own connections to the place featured in the documentary, Belle Glade, and resolved to one day have a discussion here in this forum about the subject.
Grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and have a listen as we step into The Genealogy Situation Room for a talk about migrant farm workers and family history.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and many thanks to Ann for sharing about her family history and lived experiences.
Please see the companion guide post for more information on topics that we discussed here.
Have a great one!
We have a situation…
